The Asia Foundation’s DOS-TIP Project

The Asia Foundation in the Philippines is currently conducting a project on the prevention of Human Trafficking with funding support from the U.S. Department of State.

Online Publishing for Anti-TIP NGOsThe project, entitled “Enhancing and Coordinating Victim Protection and Trafficking Prevention Efforts in the Philippines” is a two-year program to build linkages between and among government agencies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working on the issue of trafficking, expand shelter and transit center capacities in strategic airports in the Philippines to assist victims of trafficking, mobilize public support for anti-trafficking initiatives through effective print and broadcast media campaigns, and strengthen the capacity of local communities, anti-trafficking organizations, and government agencies and officials to prevent trafficking, reintegrate victims, and increase protection of Filipino victims abroad.

The program builds on existing initiatives, particularly supporting transit centers and anti-trafficking help desks in major Philippine airports.

OBJECTIVE: To build government and nongovernmental capacities to combat trafficking in persons.

ACTIVITY AREAS:

  1. Consolidating and sharing Philippine anti-trafficking information, and government and nongovernmental efforts
  2. Strengthening multidisciplinary task forces to protect victims of trafficking
  3. Mobilizing public and local government support for anti-trafficking efforts through effective print and broadcast media campaigns.
